Barbara S. (Stevens) Avendano

Barbara Sue (Stevens) Avendano, 73, of Fairdale KY and formerly of Scottsburg IN, passed away on April 12 2023 at the residence of her daughter in Fairdale KY. Barbara was born January 21 1950 in Louisville KY to the late John Stevens, Sr., and the late Dorothy (Ware) Stevens. She was married to the late Lupe Avendano. She loved being a homemaker, loved gardening and travelling, she loved anything that was a pig and collected pig items, loved shopping at yard sales, and she loved Elvis Presley. Barbara was fun to be around, bubbly, a jokester, she loved playing games, and was a loving person. She was a member of New Song Church in Scottsburg and was faithful to her walk with God.

Survivors include her daughters, Jennifer Watson & husband Carl of Fairdale KY and Tracy Matthews & husband John of Fairdale KY; a step daughter Dawnita Rodriquez of Louisville KY; grandchildren Carl Lee Watson, Nicholas Wayne Watson, Brent Allen Matthews, Shawn-Michael Russell Matthews, and Codey Andrew Watson; 7 great grandchildren; siblings John Stevens, Jr. of Austin IN, Donald Stevens, Sr. of Seymour IN, Michael Stevens & wife Rita of Scottsburg IN, Joe Stevens of Scottsburg IN, Ester Christine Barger & husband Joe of Scottsburg IN, and Dorothy Harris of Scottsburg IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lupe Avendano; and brother Charles Stevens.

Pastor Chris Johanningsmeier will conduct a Funeral Service 5pm, Monday, April 17 2023 at Christensen-Hoagland Family Funeral Home, 80 N 1st St., Scottsburg IN. Friends and Family may visit Monday, April 17 2023, 1pm – 5pm. Burial will be at Scottsburg Cemetery at a later time.
