Bertha Jewell Rutherford

Bertha Jewell Rutherford, 96. of Scottsburg IN, passed away Thursday, December 9 2021 at Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born February 5 1925 in Scott County IN to Ezra Sanford Comer and Lola Myrtle Moon Comer who are deceased. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Rutherford. Jewell was formerly employed at Morgan’s, Vest Home Furniture Center, and as an EMT with the ambulance service. Jewell was a member of the Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church having helped with Bible School. She also enjoyed membership with Scott County and Washington County Senior Citizens,  was a member of the Senior Executive Club, and Indiana Farm Bureau. Jewell also enjoyed traveling to Holland, Panama, Switzerland, South America, Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Haiti, San Juan Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Nassau and Free Port. Survivors: sons Gary L Austin (Yvonne) and Larry R Austin (Rita); 3 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by: siblings James Comer & Mildred, Floyd Comer, Faye Galvin & Fred, Inez Richey & Rolla, Dorothy Mullinix & Everett.
