Bess M. Phillips

Bess M. Phillips, 93 of Vallonia, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Schneck Medical Center. Born May 7, 1924 in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Clyde and Stella (George) Callahan. Bess was married to Richard Phillips having spent 53 years together.

Bess enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafts, puzzles, traveling and spending time with family, especially grandkids.

Survivors include her husband Richard; children, Tom Andis of Seymour, Kitty (Rick) Foster of Medora, Becky Andis of Bloomington, Janet (Rick Rickard) of Seymour, and Robert (Wayne Vice) Phillips of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Haven Andis, Hailey Andis, Holly (Casami) Johnson, Keith (Jezzie) Robbins, Tyler (Allison) Andis, Andy (Bonnie) Washam, Christy (Brent) Emily, Joey (Ashley) Murphy, Betsy Foster and Dennis (Bobbie) Carpenter. Bess also leaves behind 24 grandchildren and great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and her beloved poodle Rusty.

Bess was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Lee Ann Carpenter-Box, 6 siblings, grandson Travis Foster and great-grandson, A.J. Washam.

Services will be at 1:00pm on Wednesday March 28, 2018 at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre. Visitation will be from 2:00pm until 6:00pm on Tuesday or from noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
