Betty Ann Marie Ahls

July 6, 1932 — December 22, 2021

Betty Ann Marie (Ames) Ahls, age 89, a native of Eldora, Iowa and a former resident of Cedar Falls, Iowa, currently of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Lutheran Community Home. She graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf furthering her education and eventually became a Certified Nursing Assistant.
She was born on July 6, 1932 to the late Richard Ames and the late Aimee (Barker) Gale. Betty was a Lutheran by faith and worked very closely with her husband in the Lutheran deaf ministry for over 50 years. Being deaf herself, she enjoyed slap stick comedy because she could visualize the humor. A child a heart she enjoyed laughing and making others laugh. She loved crafts, sewing, baking and being a home maker.
She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Franke and her husband Tom of Seymour, Indiana and Glenda Ahls of Greenwood, Arkansas. Seven grandchildren, Gabrielle Ahls, Zeth Ahls, Benjamin Franke, Rachel Franke, Matthew Franke, Daniel Franke and Rebekah Franke. Two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of over 54 years, Henry L. Ahls, one brother, Richard Ames and one grandson, Hunter Ahls.
Per her wishes, the family has chosen cremation and entrusted the arrangements to Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre in Seymour, Indiana with private family services on a later date.
