Billie Wheeler

Billie "Bill" Wheeler, age 89, a native of Brownstown, Indiana and a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at his residence. He was born on January 12, 1935 to the late Benjamin Wheeler Sr. and the late Laura (Boknecht) Wheeler. He was a member of Surprise Christian Church. Bill retired from the Jackson County Sheriffs Office after over 27 years of service, and also retired from Arvins. He was a 1953 graduate of Brownstown High School. Bill will forever be remembered as a kind, strong, loving man that loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, flowers, butterflies and hummingbirds. He loved to "tinker" and could fix anything he put his hands to. Above all he loved his family and taking care of his grand and great grand children. He is survived by his two sons, Bill Wheeler and his wife Carole of Seymour, Indiana and Ronald Wheeler of Seymour, Indiana. Two daughters, Terry Ayers and her husband Robert of Vallonia, Indiana and Pam Grant and her husband Rick of Seymour, Indiana. One brother, Jack Wheeler and his wife Barbara of Brownstown, Indiana and one sister, Betty Foster. Seven grandchildren, Michelle Ouled, Scott Howell, Jeremy Wheeler, Seth Weimer, Andy Weimer, Alicia Bogard and Amber Lancaster. Twelve great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of over 62 years, Mattie (Delph) Wheeler, four brothers, Ben Wheeler Jr., Robert Wheeler, Lindy Wheeler and Jim Wheeler. Three sisters, Ann Trowbridge, Eva Jane White and Norma Jean Wheeler.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Christensen Family Funeral Home - Seymour Chapel from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Rick Grant officiating. He will be laid to rest at ACME cemetery.
