Brenda Derringer

Brenda (Johnson) Derringer, age 73, a native of Gays Creek, Kentucky and a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family.  She was born on March 3, 1950 to the late Luther Johnson Sr. and the late Alta (West) Johnson. She was a member of The Tabernacle at Sandy Creek and enjoyed working as activities director at several nursing homes. On October 23, 1967, she married her husband of over 56 years, Earl Derringer of Seymour, Indiana. Brenda was a loving, caring and outgoing lady that loved trying new things. She enjoyed craft making, floral arranging and cooking, with peanut butter fudge and no bake cookies being among the family favorites. She is survived by her husband, one son, Rob Derringer and his wife Jenn of Brownsburg, Indiana and one daughter, Angela Grubb of Seymour, Indiana. Four grandchildren, Brittany Grubb, Jesse Derringer, Owen Derringer and Amelia Derringer. Three sisters, Nella Coe of Scottsburg, Indiana, Margaret Snowden of Winchester, Kentucky and Anna Hughes of Buckhorn, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Zachary Grubb, three brothers, Bobby Johnson, Floyd Johnson and Luther Johnson Jr., four sisters, Bitha Riley, Ola Robertson, Helen Pittack and Thelma Price. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home - Seymour Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 PM with Bro. Jimmy Blackburn officiating. 

The family wishes to thank Schneck Hospice for their exceptional care of Brenda and desires for memorial donations to be directed to Schneck Hospice.
