Dora Mae (Wampler) Taylor

February 22, 1935 — January 27, 2024

Dora Mae (Wampler) Taylor, age 88, a native of Bicknell, Indiana and a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Lutheran Community Home. She was born on February 22, 1935 to the late Clyve "Pete" Wampler and the late Irene (Deal) Wampler.  She was a 1953 graduate of Bruceville, Indiana. She worked for many years at The Lutheran Community Home as a nurses aide and was also employed by RCA in Bloomington and Marion Kay Spice Company. Dora will forever be remembered as a kind, gentle lady that loved people as they are and never passed judgement on anyone. She was a very hard working lady that loved to shop and especially loved shopping for clothes. Her passion and love was taking care of her family and was an amazing cook. 

She is survived by three sons, Bryan Beard of Seymour, Indiana, Joseph Beard and his wife Lisa of Seymour, Indiana and Bill Taylor and his wife Penny of Shawswick, Indiana. Two daughters, Lois Burnside and her husband Ron of Brownstown, Indiana and Connie Prairie and her husband Jim of Heltonville, Indiana. One brother, John Wampler and his wife Joan of Bicknell, Indiana and two sisters, Nancy Cook of Bloomington, Indiana and Cheryl McKinley and her husband Vick of Albany, Georgia.

Three sisters in law, Marilyn Taylor of Bedford, Indiana and Joann Taylor of Brownstown, Indiana and Susie Beaucamp of Freetown, Indiana.

Eleven grandchildren, Ben Carmichael, Troy Burnside, Stan Burnside, Hayley Terrell. Heather Galbraith, Brittney Findley, Dylan Michaels, Jessica Grelle, Clayton Beard, Shayla Beard and Ryan Simonson. Numerous great and great grand children.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dale Beard and her second husband, Kenneth Taylor, her parents, two brothers, Ancile Wampler and Charles Wampler. Two brother in laws, Jake Taylor and Ted Beaucamp and two sister in laws, Mary Wampler and Ruth Wampler.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home  - Seymour Chapel with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest ay Freetown Cemetery.
