Ida Mae (Lightcap) Mcneely

Ida Mae (Lightcap) McNeely, age 88, a native of Nabb, Indiana and a resident of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Hampton Oaks. She was born on June 4, 1935 to the late Thomas Lightcap and the late Stella (Shields) Lightcap.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Scottsburg, Indiana for over 60 years where she joyfully taught Sunday school. Ida will forever be remembered as a very caring lady that loved people and was attentive to the needs of others, often checking on her friends and neighbors. She was a good listener and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. She was sweet, caring, fun and had a caregivers heart. Ida loved to bake and the family will forever treasure the memories of her fudge and squash pie.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 67 years, Everitt NcMeely of Scottsburg, Indiana and her daughter, Jeanne McNeely of Scottsburg, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother John Perkinson and two sisters, Frances McDaniel and Betty Lightcap-Gibson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Christensen - Hoagland Family  Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM. Pastor Don Summerfield will officiate.
