James Shreve

January 26, 1951 — May 5, 2024

James (Jim) Robert Shreve, age 73, a native of New Buffalo, Michigan and a

resident of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at his

home surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on January 26, 1951 to

the late Floyd (John) Shreve and the late Driscilla (Yelton) Shreve. He was a

1969 graduate of New Buffalo High School in New Buffalo, Michigan.

Jim was an honest, hardworking, and loyal person. He worked as a

professional long-distance truck driver for over 30 years. He received multiple

awards over the course of his career including driver of the year and the

million-mile award which recognizes a driver that surpasses a million miles of

safe driving. He enjoyed building and flying model rockets and airplanes, just

like his father, and shared this joy with his grandson. He was also a talented

mechanic. Jim and Vicky loved trail riding together and caring for their two

horses.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 43 years, Vicky (Ramonas) Shreve of

Brownstown, Indiana, one daughter, Jeni Shreve Balawender and her

husband, Mark, of Midland, Michigan, one son, Jacob Shreve, and his wife,

Chikako Yajima, of Rochester, Minnesota, as well as one sister, Sharyn

McGreehan and her husband Don of Chase, Michigan. Jim leaves four

grandchildren, Leah, Ryan, Aiko and Suzuko.

In keeping with his wishes, the family has chosen cremation and an open

house celebrating his life which will be held May 25, 2024 from 12-3pm at

Goldberry Woods in Union Pier, Michigan.
