Mary Louise (Russell) Winklepleck

Mary Louise (Russell) Winklepleck, age 94, a lifelong resident of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Hoosier Christian Village. She was born on April 14, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Louis Russell and the late Bertie (Hurley) Russell. Mary attended Brownstown United Methodist church and ran the church kitchen committee for several years. She was a graduate of Brownstown High School in 1947 and then graduated from Approved University Beauty School in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the owner of Mary's Beauty Shop until her retirement in 1968 to be a full time mother. Mary will forever be remembered as a kind, selfless forgiving lady that always wore a smile. She was an avid home maker and she enjoyed baking to perfection, including pies, cakes and cookies. She was wonderful cook and was known for her overnight salad, hamburger - noodle casserole and apple dumplings. Mary loved her family very much, especially her nieces and nephews and she enjoyed very much being a grand mother and a great grand mother. 

She is survived by her son, Bruce Winklepleck of New Albany, Indiana and one daughter, Joni Stringer and her husband Kevin of Seymour, Indiana. Six grand children, Abbey Franks, Lauren Winkelpleck, Braeden Winklepleck and his wife Arika), Meaghan Howell, Brittany Henderson and Cassie Henderson. Eight great grand children. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry E. Winkelpleck, two brothers, Joe Russell and James Russell. One sister, Lois Dalton.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home - Winkelpleck Chapel in Brownstown, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM with Pastor Kay Pratt officiating. She will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown. 

The family has requested that memorial donations be directed to Brownstown United Methodist Church or donation of choice.
