Paul Douglas Switzer

Paul Douglas “Doug” Switzer, age 60 of Seymour, passed away at 12:10pm Friday, July 11th at his home with family surrounding his bedside. Born November 9, 1953 in Scottsburg, Indiana, he was the son of Paul Wayne Switzer and Olive L. Brown who preceded him in death. An outdoorsman at heart, Doug loved to sit around a fire with family & friends and have a cocktail. He enjoyed boating and fishing and watching the Colts and Nascar and was a Tony Stewart fan. Doug was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 655 in Seymour and also was Past-President of the North Vernon Aerie 4097. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 89, Moose Lodge 418 and VFW Post 1925 where he served as Jr. Vice. Doug’s best friend was his dog Oscar, who preceded him in death. Doug is survived by a girlfriend, Sherry Stumler; a daughter, Michanne (Brian) Smiddy of Newburgh, IN; three brothers, Byron Hudson of Terre Haute, Randy Hudson of Seymour and Willie Hudson of Freetown; three sisters, Phyllis (John) Selfridge and Barb Switzer both of Seymour and Cindy Nelson of Ohio; and a precious granddaughter, Lyssa Smiddy. Doug also was survived by his nieces and nephews, Paul (Kara) Bohall, Kayla (Jeff) Wheeler, Trista Hudson and Maria Hudson and also had two great nephews. Cremation was chosen by Doug and a celebration of Doug’s life will be from 12:00pm until 3:00pm on Saturday, July 26th at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre at 311 Holiday Sq. Rd. in Seymour.
