Raymond Doyle "Tiny" Allman

October 25, 1927 — February 12, 2023

Raymond Doyle "Tiny" Allman died at his beloved home in Seymour on February 12 2023. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 25 1927 to Della (Colvin) Allman and Pastor Robert Dewey Allman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Dewey,(Gabriella) Allman, II, his sister Bonita Elizabeth (Millard) Wineinger of Salem Indiana, his son Douglas Ray, and his niece Cathy Lynn Allman, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years Nellie Rose (Allen) Allman, his three children, Dana Jo (John) Hill; Seymour, Roger Duane (Judy) Allman; Columbus, and Dresa Ann Allman; Seymour, his grandchildren: Tracy Dawn (Patrick) Powers; Honolulu HI and Cory Duane (Hannah) Allman; Indianapolis, IN, great grandchildren: Cody Lane Powers, Sacha Leann Powers, and Kiera Morgan Powers, Nephews: Robert Dewey (Karen) Allman, III, Dennis Wayne (Linda) Allman, Pastor Rodney (Rose) Wineinger; Salem, IN, niece Gayle Ann (Albert) Skaggs, and cousin Corina (Allman) Kilgas.

Tiny, who got his nickname in 1st Grade at the Surprise Schoolhouse, was well known throughout Jackson County for his signature red, polka-dotted hats and his red pick-up trucks, He attended Honeytown School from 2nd-8th Grade and Cortland High School from 9th-11th where he was proud to be a "yell leader" at Cortland basketball games.

After leaving school, Tiny joined the Navy where he served from 1948-1952 on the aircraft carriers the USS Oriskany and USS Midway. It was there he earned his GED and learned what would become his civilian trade in refrigeration After leaving the Navy, Tiny worked for nearly 20 years at Thompson Dairy repairing "milk boxes" all around Southern Indiana before joining the Pipefitters and Steamfitters Local #442. But Tiny's passion was auctioneering and he counted one of his proudest memories as the first time he auctioned in a "sale barn". He auctioneered for many years alongside Roger Kilgas selling "farm equipment, antiques, tools and other items too numerous to mention".

He and "Nell" were married December 2 1948 and in recent years they were often seen sitting on the tailgate of his truck at the annual "Scoop the Loop" or setting up their picnic table along the Ohio River in Madison, Indiana. In younger days, Tiny enjoyed hunting with his dad, brother, nephews and friends. However, once he moved the family from Vine Street to Highway 31, he was content to sit atop his precious Ford 8N and his Farmall Cub and turn from hunting to farming. He especially enjoyed watching little ones learn how to bust open a watermelon and scoop out the heart - no utensils needed.

Tiny was a man of great faith and was devoted to his Pentecostal roots. He trusted God in all things and his relationship with the Almighty gave him great strength to face every challenge throughout his life. He will be sorely missed here on Earth but royally welcomed in the Kingdom of Heaven.

In honor of his service, by the striking of the bell, final salute to MM3 Raymond Allman, service from 1948-1952.
