Robert Lee Chambers, Jr., age 73, passed away June 8, 2021 at his daughter’s home in Sikeston, Missouri.

He was born April 23, 1948 in Scottsburg, Indiana, son of the late Robert Lee Chambers, Sr. and Hazel Lee Brown Chambers.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. 

He had worked in maintenance for Amick Appliance before retiring.

He is survived by one son, Everett (Melissa) Chambers of Welford, South Carolina; two daughters, Cheryl (Tim) Johnson of Sikeston, Missouri

and Lisa Chambers of East Prairie, Missouri; two brothers, Lonnie Dale Chambers of Worden, Illinois and Harry Michael Chambers of Austin, Indiana;

one sister, Rose Marie Beckwith of Crothersville, Indiana; 14 grandchildren, Kacey Johnson, Kaitlyn Johnson, Natalie Johnson, Kansas Johnson,

Gabrielle Johnson, Steven Adams, Cobey Baker, Devin Chambers, Layla Russell, Brianna Russell, Jouslyn Bowman, Faylee Bowman,

Reona Harris, and Kallie Porter; and 5 great-grandchildren, Karson Thurston, Kyleigh Thurston, Easton Oliver, Saylem Sylvester, and Adelynn Hulvey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jeffery Curtis Chambers; and one sister, Sharon Lynn Chambers.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston,

where funeral services will be held Friday, June 11, at 11:00 a.m., with full military honors;  Pastor Todd Crumley will officiate.  

Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 14, at 10:00 a.m. (EDT) at New Providence Cemetery in Austin, Indiana. 

Pallbearers will be Aaron Hulvey, Zac Thurston, Isaac Oliver, and Brian Sylvester.
