Shirley E. Gay

Shirley E. Gay, age 70 of Brownstown, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. Born on October 28, 1947 in Seymour, whe was the daughter of Woodrow and Bernice (Cockrum) Mantz. On July 15, 1966 at the Tampico Baptist Church, Shirley married the love of her life, George Wayne “Bud” Gay.

Shirley was a member of Surprise Christian and she enjoyed babysitting and shopping, especially Trader Bakers and Hobby Lobby. Her number one love was her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters Christina (Mike) Ritz of Vallonia, Kimberly (Tedd) Stucker of Brownstown and Kerri Allman of Brownstown; sister, Roberta (Richard) Bane of Brownstown; brother-in-law, John (Peggy) Gay of Seymour; sister-in-law, Jean (Lloyd) Meyer of White Creek and Nancy Lucas and Lena Gay all of Seymour. Shirley also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a son, George Wayne Gay, Jr.; brother, George Mantz and sister, Juanita Baughman.

Pastor Rick Grant will conduct services for Shirley at 11:00am on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour. Friends can call from 10:00am until 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Acme Cemetery following services.
