William Michael "Mike" Fink

William Michael “Mike” Fink, age 70 of Crothersville, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at his home. Born on July 29, 1947, he was the son of Harry B. Fink, Jr and Emojean (Stewart) Lewis. On July 27, 1996, Mike married Marsha C. Hawn.
Mike was a 1965 graduate of Crothersville High School where he earned 13 varsity letters in sports and held the pole vault record for nearly 30 years. He was also a member of the 1965 Tiger baseball team that went undefeated and was selected to the Dixie Conference all conference team.
In July of 1965, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served until July 1968. In 1974, he re-enlisted in the Navy and served until his retirement on July 31, 1992. While in the Navy, Mike served on six ships during his career and received numerous awards and commendations including bronze stars.
In 1994, Mike became the Jackson County Veterans Service Officer and served in that capacity until his retirement after 15 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #89 and a life member of the VFW Post 1083. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, watching deer in the back of his house and was a lifelong I.U fan. He especially liked watching cartoons with his granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Marsha; sons, William Michael (Shonainta) Fink, Jody Douglas (Melissa) Fink, Jason Fink, Scott Hawn and Charles Wayne Hawn; siblings, Brian (Rena) Fink of Crothersville and Pamela Lewis of Bountyful, UT; 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and step-dad, Robert Lewis.
Services will be private with inurnment taking place at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison with full military honors. Memorials in Mike’s memory can be made through the funeral home to Wounded Warrior Project.
