Alice Arnell "Arnie" Hilderbrand Standiford, who graced this world with her presence for 78 years, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, at her residence in Scottsburg, Indiana, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on February 22, 1948, in the very town where her life's journey began, Alice lived a life rich in love, strength, and unwavering devotion.
Arnell was a homemaker and professional artist. She was a member of S.I.C.A., Scott County Heritage Museum and numerous guilds, galleries in Nashville and Madison, Indiana. She was also involved in numerous solo exhibits. Arnell was a lifelong member of Easyville Church of Jesus Christ.
From the heart of Seymour, Indiana, Alice’s story was one woven with the threads of deep familial roots and vibrant community ties. She was the cherished daughter of William Hilderbrand and Helen Richardson Hilderbrand, whose memory remains etched in the hearts of all who knew the family.
Alice’s enduring legacy is reflected in the love of those who survive her. By her side was her devoted husband of 45 years, Ronald L. Standiford of Scottsburg, Indiana, a partnership built on steadfast love and mutual respect. Their union birthed a family that stands as a testament to her nurturing spirit: daughters Patty Ashcraft and her husband Ken of Austin, Indiana, and Helena Corbin and her husband Opil of Louisville, Kentucky; sons Bill May of Charlestown, Indiana, Ronald Standiford Jr. and his wife Debbie of Sellersburg, Indiana, and Dusty Stadiford and his finace, Angie of Otisco, Indiana. Together, they shared the joy of nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, whose lives she touched deeply.
She was preceded her in death: her father William Hilderbrand, her mother Helen Richardson Hilderbrand, and her sons Jerry Lee May Jr. and Kevin Standiford. Their memories live on within the family, quietly echoing her resilience and grace.
A visitation honoring Alice’s life will be held on May 1, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and concluding at 2:00 p.m. at the Easyville Church of Jesus Christ, located at 1882 Indiana 258 in Seymour, Indiana.
