America Jane “Mary” Bullington, age 97, of Scottsburg, Indiana, and the daughter of the late John Lee Dillow, was born on March 31, 1928 in Boissevain, West Virginia. She worked as a waitress at different restaurants for a short time, but then she began a lifelong career of cleaning homes and ironing clothing for various families. Mary was united in marriage to Luther Murray Sr. and they were blessed with two children: Luther and Dorothy. In 1969, she was united in marriage to Ed Bullington and they enjoyed many wonderful years together until his passing.
Mary was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1987. She faithfully attended and participated in Christian meetings at the Scottsburg Kingdom Hall and thoroughly enjoyed being with her congregation friends. She loved Bible reading and study. In her spare time, she loved watching and listening to the birds, occasionally watching episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, and especially spending time with her family and friends. Mary was a very kind, generous, and hard-working woman who never complained about anything. Mrs. Bullington passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at her residence.
Her life will be cherished by her children: Luther Murray, Jr. and his wife, Anna of Deputy, Indiana, and Dorothy Solsberry and her husband, Gary of Crothersville, Indiana; her dear friend, Helen Bannister, and many other close friends within her congregation. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Bullington.
Cremation was chosen and no services are planned at this time.
