Betty Jean Weesner, 92 of Brownstown, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019. She was born March 14, 1927, in Wabash, Indiana, the daughter of the late Howard and Mary Rebecca Moore Coon.
Betty married James D. Weesner, Sr. on November 23, 1950, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and he preceded her in death on October 17, 2006.
Betty was a long-time member of Brownstown Church of the Nazarene. She had worked six years as a telephone operator in Brownstown and Seymour from 1964 to 1970. She also worked at General Tire Company and for Spencer Cardinal Corporation in Wabash, Indiana. She and Jim moved to Jackson County in February of 1963. In 1967, Jim and Betty purchased Winklepleck Funeral Home.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen Marie (Doug) Heiwig, Jody (Dan) Hall and James D. Weesner, Jr.; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a great-nephew, Michael Hoover, whom she and Jim cared for when he was young.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six sisters, Mrs. Robert (Ethel) Amber, Mrs. Lowell (Mary) Hoover, Mrs. Wilbur (Effie) Meyer, Mrs. Clinton (Mildred) Shook, Mrs. George (Julia) Hoover, and Mrs. Jack (Virginia) Love; and three brothers, Howard, John and George Coon.
Services will be conducted Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Friends and family may call at Winklepleck & Brock Funeral Home in Brownstown on Monday from 4 to 7 PM and Tuesday at the church after 1:00 PM until time of service.
Memorials may be made to the Brownstown Church of the Nazarene.
