Austin, Indiana

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Billy Gene Davis, a beloved handyman and cherished member of his community, who left this world on February 13, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on March 16, 1963, in Hazard, Kentucky, Billy brought joy and laughter to those around him through his goofy demeanor and fun sense of humor.

Billy was not only known for his practical skills as a handyman but also for his loving spirit and willingness to help those in need. He often brightened the days of family and friends with his light-hearted practical jokes, embodying a cheerful presence that left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.

In addition to his work, Billy had a passion for collecting stuffed toys, 8-track tapes, and coins, each item telling a story reflective of his playful nature. His hobbies were a testament to the vibrant personality he shared with those he loved.

Billy leaves behind a loving family that includes his sons, Kyle Davis of Austin, Indiana, and Jessie Scarlett of Corpus Christi, Texas; his daughter, Jennifer McKercher of Minnesota; his brother, Kenneth Davis of Austin, Indiana; his brother, James Davis and his wife Amy of Reddington, Indiana; as well as his aunt, Pearl Waldon of Austin, Indiana, and his aunt, Barbara Oliver of Hazard, Kentucky. He is also survived by his uncle, Noah McIntosh of Austin, Indiana, two nieces, Sarah Davis and Katie Jo Davis, nephew Cody Anderson, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his memory forward.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Davis, and his mother, Dorothy McIntosh Davis as well as his brother, Manuel Davis . In celebrating the life of Billy Gene Davis, we remember a man who knew how to bring joy to others, a spirit that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
