Colette M. Taylor, age 64, a vibrant spirit born on October 6, 1960, in Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on July 23, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by the love of her cherished family. Colette's journey through life was defined by her infectious positivity and undeniable strength of will. A 1979 graduate of St. Mary's High School in her beloved Cincinnati, she later pursued an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Ivy Tech, laying the foundation for a fulfilling career at Walmart Distribution Center.
Beyond her professional achievements, Colette was a beacon of joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her. With a personality that radiated warmth, she was often described as funny and straightforward, never one to leave her thoughts unspoken. Her caring nature, generosity, and kindness left indelible marks on the hearts of her friends and family—a legacy that will endure through the many lives she touched.
Colette reveled in simple pleasures, finding joy in shopping sprees and the excitement of the casino. Swimming, family dinners, and the satisfaction of completing word search puzzles were among the activities that filled her days with laughter and light. Her artistic side blossomed as she passionately created diamond art jewelry, showcasing her creativity and love for beauty.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her devoted daughter Kayla Bloom and her husband Kevin of North Vernon, Indiana, as well as her two adored grandchildren, Dakoda McDaniel and her husband Isaiah, and Audrey Bloom. Colette cherished her lifelong friendships with Jean Klene, Marnita Ritz, and Melvina Bloom, whom she regarded as sisters, weaving rich tapestries of shared memories and laughter throughout their lives.
Colette's departure leaves a void that words cannot express, a profound silence in the lives of those who cherished her. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Whalen; mother, Mary Elliott Whalen; and her beloved husband of 27 years, Herbert Taylor. Their memories, intertwined with hers, create an everlasting bond that transcends time.
In reflecting upon the incredible life she led, we honor Colette’s memory by embracing the positivity, humor, and straightforwardness that defined her essence. Let us carry her spirit forward, always remembering to cherish every moment, just as she did.
