Curt Edward Chumley, born on August 16, 1965, in Fort Knox, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Curt’s life was a rich tapestry woven with threads of faith, compassion, artistry, and deep familial love.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Curt served his country with honor, embodying the quiet strength and dedication that defined much of his character. Yet, beyond his military service, it was his unwavering faith that stood as the cornerstone of his life. A devoted Christian, Curt was a steadfast student of the word, having read his Bible numerous times. His passion for scripture was not only a personal comfort but a gift he shared generously, engaging eagerly in Bible studies and heartfelt discussions, illuminating the lives of those around him with the light of his convictions.
Curt was compassionate, faithful, kind, and loving in every sense. His gentle spirit touched the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. An artist at heart, he expressed his soul through painting and drawing, his creativity capturing beauty and emotion on every canvas. His love extended beyond the brush to the natural world he cherished—the six beloved dogs that were his companions and the "mini farm" that nurtured his spirit as much as it did the land. When not immersed in faith or art, Curt found tranquility swimming in his pool or simply relaxing on the deck, savoring the peaceful moments of life.
He is survived by those who loved him dearly: Jamie Rollins of Seymour, Indiana, his devoted life partner; his sons—Dustin Chumley of Bedford, Indiana; Devin Chumley and his wife Annie of Princeton, Indiana; and Dillon Chumley of Bedford, Indiana, each carrying forward his legacy with pride. His brothers—Thomas Chumley Jr. and his wife Wanda of Ratcliffe, Kentucky; Mack Banks Jr., Danny Banks, and Davey Banks, all of Bedford, Indiana—stand alongside his sisters, Cathy Brown and her husband Robert of Bedford, Indiana, and Cheryl Chumley of Stafford, Virginia, in mourning the loss of a beloved brother and uncle. Four grandchildren—Aiden, Konner, Gracie, and Paisley—also carry his memory in their hearts.
Curt was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Chumley Sr., his mother, Amelia Ramsey Banks, stepfather Mack Banks Sr., and brother Doug Chumley. Though these souls rest now in eternity, Curt’s heart rejoices in the knowledge that he is reunited with them and with his Lord, a reunion he held close to his heart and longed for throughout his earthly journey.
Curt Edward Chumley’s life was a testament to profound faith and gentle strength—a man whose spirit will continue to inspire, comfort, and encourage all who knew him. In his passing, the world has lost a rare and beautiful soul, but those who loved him remain forever touched by his love and taught by the faith that so defined him. As they gather to honor his memory, they celebrate a life well lived, a heart fully given, and a soul finally home.
In keeping with his wishes, Funeral arrangements are private for close friends and family and he will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery.
Daniel and Betsy Christensen have been entrusted with the arrangements.
