Darrell Wayne Jackson passed away on June 6, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent's in Carmel, Indiana. Darrell had been in failing health for several months. Darrell was born in Kurtz, Indiana on January 31, 1953, to parents Charles and Goldie (Brown) Jackson. Darrell attended Brownstown High School. Darrell joined the USMC as a teenager and was a Vietnam Veteran. After 13 years in the Marines, he joined the Army National Guards until his military retirement. Darrell went to work for the Department of Defense at Naval Weapons Support Center in Crane, Indiana after leaving active duty.

Later Darrell returned back to his roots in Jackson County, Indiana and worked at AISIN, USA until his final retirement.

Darrell is survived by his loving spouse of 28 years, Candis (Hayes) Jackson; children, Colby Jackson of Central Village, CT, Lindsey Hayes of North Vernon, IN, and Ben (Sara) Jackson of Spencer, IN.; sister, Jane Prewitt of Freetown, IN; sisters-in-law, Margi Thomas of Medora, IN, Angela (Mike) Ruppel of Washington, IN, and Melanie (Mike) Campbell of Odon, IN; brothers-in-law, Matt Hayes of Greencastle, IN and Chris (Lisa Baugh) Hayes of Washington, IN; Grandchildren, Juliun Jackson and Willow Jackson; and his special four-legged friends, Harley and Smoky.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; son, Darrell Jackson Jr.; in-laws, Larry and Loessa Hayes; siblings, Roy Lee, Danny, Donnie, Evelyn Pray, Grace Allen, Nene and an infant sister. Darrell had dozens and dozens of three generations of nieces and nephews whom he loved.

Darrell loved spending time with his family and friends, drives through the country, and sharing stories of life. Darrell enjoyed a quiet and simple life and wished the for the same upon his death. In keeping with his wishes the family has chosen cremation. Later his remains will be joined together again with his wife, Candis forever.
