David Joseph "Joe" Stroud, age 61, of Seymour, Indiana, and the son of the late Junior Leonard and Edna Ruth (Hodge) Stroud, was born on May 21, 1964 in Seymour. He began his career at the wastewater treatment plant and then worked in roofing and construction throughout his life. For the last 20 years, he was the Maintenance Supervisor for the Hampton Inn in Seymour. On April 30, 1994, he was united in marriage to Karen S. Sandlin in Bedford, Kentucky, and they enjoyed over 31 wonderful years together. In fact, you never saw Joe without Karen or Karen without Joe. In his spare time, he loved riding and tinkering with his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Without a doubt, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren more than anything. Joe loved to spoil them and made sure they never went without - from lawnmower rides to go-cart adventures and even buying them their own car or a motorcycle. Joe was a kid-at-heart and lived for the thrill but had an absolute heart of gold. He would do anything for anyone. Mr. Stroud passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at his residence in Seymour.
His life will be cherished by his loving wife, Karen Stroud of Seymour; his daughters: Cara Stroud (Joey Rollins), Holly Evans (DJ Galyean), and Heather Evans (Will Grantham), all of Seymour; his son: Cody Evans (Riley Deaton) of New Albany, Indiana; his grandchildren: Treyton Ream, Jayden Galyean (Evan Smith), Eden Galyean, Maddie Galyean, Hannah Grantham, Natalie Grantham (Justin Ensley), Landon Evans, Journey Evans, Carter Evans, Lincoln Taylor, LeAunna Hudson, Jaxx Deaton, Daulton Deaton, and Deakon Wilson; his siblings: Lisa Stroud, Lil Stroud (Richard), Christina Martin, Lonnie Stroud (Jeanette), Charles Stroud (Tammy), Harold Black, Becky Loudermilk (Troy), Terrence Stewart, and Winona Anderson; and a bunch of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons: Travis Brown and Steven Tankersley; his sisters: Patricia Stroud, Teresa Martin, Paula Smith, and Jerri Campbell; and his brothers: Leonard "Hog Head" Stroud and Timothy "Snag" Stroud.
