Donald "Donnie" Eugene Hoevener, age 77, a native of Seymour, Indiana and a resident of Commiskey, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Majestic Care in North Vernon, Indiana. He was born on August 4, 1945 to the late Wilbur Hoevener and the late Dorothy (Thiele) Hoevener. Donnie was a member of St. Johns Sauers Lutheran Church. He was confirmed in March of 1959 and graduated from Tampico High School in 1963. He was a part of the last graduating class and was proud of the fact that he and his classmates have had a class reunion every year since. He served his Country proudly in the Indiana National Guard. He was lifelong farmer, always having farming on his mind and heart. He loved working the soil and harvesting what God had provided. He also drove school bus in Jennings County for over 33 years. On July 16th 1967, he married the love of his life, Jacqueline "Jackie" (McCrary) Hoevener and together their story began. They have shared over 55 years of marriage and together they have been blessed beyond measure.
Donnie loved people and would help anyone that needed him. He was ornery and loved to laugh. He was a hard worker and a wonderful provider for his family. He enjoyed IU Basketball, tractor pulls and wrestling. He was a devoted family man and loved them with all of his heart. Donnie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and each life that he touched in his own special way.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Brian Hoevener of Commiskey, Indiana and Brad Hoevener and his wife Tammy of Commiskey, Indiana. One daughter, Bethany Miller and her husband Mike of Lovett, Indiana. Four brothers, Harold Hoevener and his wife Melba of Crothersville, Indiana, Wilbur Lee Hoevener of Crothersville, Indiana, Paul Hoevener and his wife Barbie of Brownstown, Indiana and Alan Hoevener and his wife Mitzi of Crothersville, Indiana.
One sister in law, Joan Hoevener of Seymour, Indiana, brother-in-law, Jim McCrary and his wife Betty of Seymour, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.
Seven grand children, Bryant (Allie), Warren Ross, Joe Ross (Tasha), Devan, Logan, Daisy and Natalie. Thirteen great grandchildren, Heida Jo, Kay Marie, Breaha, Lueann, Kiarra, Jakobi, Hallye, Emmy, Bryar, Ben, Liam, Nellie and Bodee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Marvin Hoevener, one grandson, Joe Ross, one sis-in-law, Ann Hoevener, one niece Lisa Hoevener and his bro and sister in law, Tom and Carol McCrary.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sara Dobbins for her love and care of Donnie.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home located at 311 Holiday Square Rd, in Seymour, Indiana. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM. Pastor Craig Muhlbach will officiate.
He will be laid to rest at Hayden Cemetery.
