Donald Lee Hargett, born on February 9, 1935, in Augusta, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 5, 2025. He lived a life filled with purpose and dedication, leaving behind a legacy that touched many hearts.

As a devoted teacher at Crothersville Public Schools, Donald inspired countless young minds through his passion for education and skilled trades. His commitment to teaching was fueled by his own educational background, having earned an Associates degree in Industrial Arts from Ivy Tech. Donald's ability to connect with students went beyond the classroom; he especially enjoyed teaching young people practical skills, ensuring they were well-prepared for their future endeavors.

In addition to his teaching career, Donald proudly served in the United States Army, where he developed a deep sense of duty and service that he carried throughout his life. He was also known for his love of woodworking, fishing, and construction, hobbies that he engaged in during his spare time. Donald had a zest for life and enjoyed taking road trips, often exploring wherever the road would lead him.

A cherished member of the community, Donald attended Elevation Church and held a special place in his heart for his faith and the connections he formed within the church family. His dedication to his beliefs was evident in the way he lived his life, fostering a spirit of kindness and generosity toward others.

Donald is survived by his son David Hargett and his wife Kelly of Scottsburg, Indiana; his daughter Anita Lapp and her husband Jeff of Austin, Indiana; as well as five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, who will forever remember him for the love and wisdom he shared.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty (Moneyhon) Hargett, his father Luch Hargett, his mother Stella (Marford) Hargett, and several siblings. Their memories live on in the hearts of all who knew them, creating an enduring bond that will not fade with time.

Visitation for Donald Lee Hargett will be held on May 9, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM at Christensen - Hoagland Family Funeral Home, located at 80 N 1st Street, Scottsburg, IN 47170. He will be laid to rest at Crothersville Cemetery.

He touched many lives and will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his faith, and the joy he found in teaching and sharing his passions with others. Donald's legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
