Evelene N. Bowman Ruddick, age 78, born in Franklin, Indiana and a resident of Seymour, Indiana passed away on Friday June 19, 2026 at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour, Indiana with her beloved family by her side. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for over 58 years and a 1964 graduate of Salem High School.
Evelene will forever be remembered as a kind, patient and easy going lady that loved life and lived it to the fullest. She had a quick wit about her and a funny sense of humor which was, in part, what made her amazing at her profession. For over 50 years, she worked as a hairdresser and loved each client, making sure they always looked their best. She loved people and could talk to anybody about anything. She started her career at Jo's beauty shop where she worked for over 31 years. She retired from All In One Haircare by Christy in 2024.
Evelene loved dancing, especially line dancing and clogging. She enjoyed traveling with Branson, New York and Hawaii being sone of her favorite destinations. Above all that she loved in this life, nothing compared to the love she had for her family.
She is survived by her one son, Chess Ruddick and his wife Melissa of Seymour, Indiana, one daughter, Traci Ruddick of Seymour, Indiana, two brothers, Walter Bowman of Brownstown, Indiana and Ronnie Bowman and his wife Pam of Vallonia, Indiana, one sister, Martha Kiser of Medora, Indiana.
Seven grandchildren, Amanda Barlow and her husband Josh, Lukacs Ruddick and his wife Chelsea, Dylan Ruddick, Philip Ruddick, Johnathan Engelking, Brittany Engleking and Bethany Engleking. Also six great grandchildren, Payton, Finley, Reed, Elora, Eliza and Liam.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Nola (Minton) Bowman, her beloved husband of 46 years, Roger "Tom" Ruddick and two brothers, Norman Bowman and Granville Bowman.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home - Seymour Chapel with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ralph Blomenberg officiating. She will be laid to rest at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
The family requests memorials be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church in her honor.
