Harold Cletus Johnson Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, departed this life on September 4, 2024, at Our Hospice in Columbus, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on October 4, 1946, in Seymour, Indiana, Harold lived a life that was marked by honesty, commitment, and faith, leaving behind a legacy cherished by all who knew him.
Harold dedicated his career to carpentry, where his craft and skills spoke volumes about his meticulous nature and proud workmanship. Honesty was his guiding principle, and he often reminded those around him that one's word was a solid bond, with a handshake serving as a testament that went beyond any signed document. This trait endeared him to many, as those who engaged with the man never had to wonder what he was thinking; his outspoken manner was a rarity that was both refreshing and reassuring.
His hobbies reflected his love for life’s simple pleasures; he enjoyed fishing, where the stillness of the water brought him peace, and he delighted in working on old cars, pouring his passion into each project as if breathing new life into them.
Harold is survived by his devoted wife, Julie Ann Johnson of Medora, Indiana, and his loving children: James Johnson of Seymour, Indiana, Harold C. Johnson II and his wife Lesa of Medora, Indiana, Tina Fluhr and her husband Mike of Medora, Indiana, Tawna Johnson of Reddington, Indiana, Patricia S. Day of Medora, Indiana, and Kathryne Hughes and her husband Brian of Seymour, Indiana. He was also a cherished brother to Wanda Renolds of Medora, Indiana, and a proud father-in-law to David Blyth of Seymour, Indiana. Harold’s spirit continues to thrive in the hearts of his 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his legacy of love, loyalty, and integrity.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Johnson, and his mother, Arvilla (Shelton) Johnson. Harold was also predeceased by treasured family members: his daughter Theresa Blyth, sister Wilma Engelking, granddaughter Jessica Petro, and great-granddaughter Olivia Lamar.
