Jacob Carlton Pfister, age 89, a devoted family man, passed away on October 10, 2024, at St. Elizabeth's Healthcare Campus in Delphi, Indiana. Born on July 26, 1935, in Henryville, Indiana, Jacob was a proud graduate of Henryville High School, class of 1953. His steadfast dedication to his career spanned over four decades, primarily with Louisville Cement, where he was recognized for his hard work and commitment to excellence.
Jacob was not just an exemplary worker; he was also a loving provider for his family, embodying qualities that made him well-respected among his peers and beloved by those who knew him. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Camden and Henryville, further exemplifying his active involvement in the community.
Jacob's personality was characterized by his gentle and generous nature, combined with a fun-loving spirit and a delightful sense of humor. He cherished time spent engaging in hobbies that brought him joy, such as fishing, hunting, trapping, selling pelts and gardening. Jacob had a special affinity for music, playing the guitar and enjoying country and gospel tunes, particularly those of Hank Williams. His musical talent extended beyond personal enjoyment; he recorded CDs of his performances and frequently played at nursing homes, bringing happiness to many residents who adored his warm-hearted spirit.
Jacob is survived by his devoted daughters: Karen Rouse and her husband Steven of Gadsden, Alabama; Linda Lou Johnson and her husband David of Camden, Indiana; Vickie Marie Delano and her husband Tad of Seymour, Indiana; and Kathy Engle and her husband Jeff of Indianapolis, Indiana. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Yates of Louisville, Kentucky; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mabel (Stewart) Pfister, as well as his parents, Cecil Amos Pfister and Myrtle (Ater) Pfister. Jacob is also reunited with his infant son, Steven Eugene Pfister, and siblings Sidney Pfister, Anna Tatum, and Cecil Leigh Palmer, along with his sister Wanda Joyce Jones.
Visitation for Jacob Carlton Pfister will take place on October 16, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 2:00 PM, all held at the Christensen - Hoagland Family Funeral Home located at 80 N 1st Street, Scottsburg, Indiana. Pastor Jim Hudson will officiate.
Jacob's legacy is one of hard work, kindness, and love for his family and community. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, as they reflect on a life well-lived, marked by devotion and joy.
