James Darl "Junior" Burch

James Darl "Junior" Burch, age 95, a native and resident of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Lake Pointe Village on Scottsburg, Indiana. He was born on July 10, 1928 to the late Kelse Burch and the late Opal (Fitch) Burch. He worked at Coonie's Supermarket for over 34 years, retiring in 1994. Junior was a faithful member of First Christian Church of Scottsburg where he served as a deacon and loved singing in the choir. He enjoyed woodworking, puzzles and watching wrestling and roller derby.

He is survived by his two sons, Richard Burch and his wife Carol of Scottsburg, Indiana and Steven Burch and his wife Mary of Louisville, Kentucky. One daughter, Debbie Schleif of Scottsburg, Indiana. One sister, Beverly Voelker of Nashville, Tennessee and six grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of over 60 years, Doris "Rosalie" (Peacock) Burch, one son, Rodney Burch, two brothers, Robert Burch and Gene Burch. Two sisters, Geraldine Gladden and Phyllis King. One son in law, Wayne Schleif.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Christensen - Hoagland Family Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with burial to follow at Scottsburg Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be directed to First Christian Church.
