James Keith Shelton

James "Pete" Keith Shelton, age 73, a resident of Seymour, Indiana was born in Seymour, Indiana on May 15, 1953 to the late William Clifford "Red" Shelton and the late Martha (Banks) Shelton. He was a 1973 graduate of Brownstown High School and was Apostolic By Faith. Pete loved truth and was a fierce defender of the Apostolic Faith. He was baptized in Jesus Name and Filled with the Holy Ghost at 14 years of age and rededicated his life to the lord later in life.

Pete worked at several gas stations in Seymour and Brownstown and enjoyed being a service station attendant until his retirement from Jackson - Jennings CoOp. He was also a Flea Marketer for over 40 years. An avid collector himself, he enjoyed antique toys and restoring them to their original value. He also collected glassware, license plates coins and antique cap guns. He was also a huge movie collector with Westerns and Gangster movies being his favorites. Pete was an extremely hard worker and did not let his physical disabilities affect him. He will forever be remembered as a strong willed man that was very particular and said what he meant and meant what he said.

He is survived by his one son, Tom Shelton and his companion Alma Hobson of Seymour, Indiana. Four daughters, Amy Hanners of Seymour, Indiana, Angela Bowling and her husband John of Austin, Indiana, Vera Reichenbacker and her husband Jason on Seymour, Indiana and Ashley Guthrie of Paoli, Indiana. He is also survived by his first wife, Janet Elmore of Brownstown, Indiana and his companion of 32 years, Lisa Stahl.

Nine grandchildren, Brian, Courtany, Dillon, Frank, Heather, Makenzie, Jaxon, Michelle and Lisa. Fourteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Shelton and two sisters, Rita Gail Shelton and Suzie Lebline and his second wife Carol Gosman Shelton. One grand daughter, Vanessa Smith.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday July 8, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home – Winklepleck Chapel located at 320 North High Street, Brownstown, Indiana with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ron Cox Officiating. He will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown, Indiana.

The family requests memorials be directed to First Pentecostal Church of Brownstown, Indiana.
