Jane “Eldeena” Fish Fleetwood, age 96, born on March 4, 1929, in the heart of Jackson County, Indiana, departed this earthly life on February 14, 2026, at Hoosier Health and Rehabilitation in Brownstown, Indiana. She carried with her a spirit vibrant and unapologetic—sassy, outspoken, and forever fun. Eldeena was a strong-willed lady, embodying a fierce independence and an unyielding work ethic that left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Eldeena graduated from Clearspring High School in 1948. She was a proud member of the Order of Eastern Star, reflecting not only her dedication to community but also her ability to weave connections that would last a lifetime.
Her passions were vividly illustrated on the canvas of her life; she found great joy in sewing, the rhythmic hum of the machine a manifestation of her creativity and resourcefulness. A beloved figure on the family farm, she embraced the role of "farm wife" with unwavering love, her hands skilled in both diligence and care. Eldeena was an excellent cook, her southern specialties and heavenly pies a testament to her nurturing spirit and warmth. Each meal she prepared spoke of love, laughter, and the gatherings of family and friends around the table—a place where memories were made and ties were strengthened.
Eldeena's journey through life was one defined by enduring relationships and heartfelt connections. She was predeceased by her husband Clyde Fleetwood, with whom she shared over 30 beautiful years of marriage; their infant son David; her beloved sisters Laverne Goen and Nellie French; and her brother-in-law Gerald Fleetwood, brother-in-law, Harold Lee Fleetwood and her parents, Albert Fish and Tavia Horton Fish.
She leaves behind her dear brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Sue Fleetwood of Brownstown, Indiana; her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Randal Helmbrecht of Seymour, Indiana; Sister-in-law, Mary Jane Fleetwood of Brownstown, Indiana and several nieces, nephews, and friends who found joy in her vibrant, spirited presence.
A visitation will be held at Christensen Family Funeral Home - Winklepleck Chapel in Brownstown, Indiana, on February 18, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service that will commence at 1:00 PM, allowing those who loved her to pay their respects and share their memories. She will be laid to rest at Clearspring Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following.
Eldeena Fleetwood, with her strong heart and unwavering spirit, has left us with a kaleidoscope of treasured moments. Though she now resides in a peaceful eternity, her laughter continues to echo in the hearts of those who were privileged to walk alongside her in this life. She taught us that joy could be found in the simplest of pleasures, that strength could be woven with kindness, and that love, above all, is what truly binds us together.
