Kathryn Jane (Waggoner) Gorbett, a spirited soul who embraced life with gusto, left this world on June 17, 2025, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Indiana, at the age of 70. Born on December 24, 1954, in the vibrant warmth of Orlando, Florida, Kathryn was a force of nature whose presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the honor to know her.
To her beloved husband Jeffrey Gorbett, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of 41 years, Kathryn was not just a partner but a best friend and confidante. Together, they cultivated a life overflowing with love, laughter, and the creation of cherished memories. Her adventurous spirit shone brightly through their many travels, where every destination became a new chapter in their love story.
As a devoted mother, Kathryn poured her heart into nurturing her children, Christopher Gorbett and his wife Sarahbeth of Quincy, and Melissa Cranmore and her husband Zachary of Freetown. The love she extended to her family was boundless, reflecting her kind and generous heart. Her legacy lives on in her seven adoring grandchildren: Emelia, Haley, Paisley, Daisy, Noah, Madison, and Cora, each of whom carries a piece of her with them.
Kathryn was a proud graduate of Brownstown High School, class of 1973, and she maintained a connection to her roots through her membership at the Freetown Church of Christ. Her personality—fiesty, loving, and caring—made her a magnetic presence in her community. She was known for her generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to those in need.
Kathryn's love for animals was evident; they were as much a part of her family as any human. The blue jays that frequented her yard were a source of joy, reminding all who knew her of the beauty and simplicity she cherished. Her culinary talents were legendary; her pumpkin pie, steak and potatoes, and spaghetti recipes were treasures that her family will forever hold dear, binding them together with memories of countless shared meals.
Behind her vivacious spirit was a profound love for her late father, Glen Waggoner, her mother, Delores Williamson Waggoner, and her brother, Bryan Waggoner, whom she has now joined in eternal rest. Each of them played a significant role in shaping the incredible person she became.
As we gather to honor her memory, there will be a visitation on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, both at Christensen Family Funeral Home, located at 311 Holiday Square Road, Seymour, Indiana. She will be laid to rest following services at the Freetown Cemetery.
Kathryn Jane Gorbett embodied the very essence of love and adventure, leaving behind a world infinitely brighter for her presence. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who loved her, a reminder that life is to be lived boldly and generously, with kindness as its greatest legacy.
