Kevin Scott Deaton, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on January 5, 2026, at the age of 46 in Austin, Indiana. Born on March 19, 1979, in Scottsburg, Indiana, and a 1997 graduate of Crothersville High School, Kevin brought joy and laughter into the lives of everyone who knew him. His warm spirit and vibrant personality endeared him to many, earning him a reputation as the life of the party.
Kevin was known for his infectious sense of humor and loved making people laugh. Whether he was sharing a funny story or pulling a light-hearted prank, he had a knack for brightening any room. His playful mannerisms and joyous laughter will be sorely missed, but they will forever resonate in the hearts of his family and friends who cherished every moment spent with him.
A member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, Kevin's faith was profound and offered him a sense of purpose throughout his life. He found strength and community in his beliefs, imparting love and kindness to those around him.
Kevin had a passion for baseball, which he played enthusiastically throughout high school. This love of the game extended into his adult life, where he continued to enjoy both playing and watching the sport. Additionally, he had a deep appreciation for wrestling, often gathering with friends and family to cheer for his favorite athletes, creating countless cherished memories over the years.
Kevin is survived by his loving mother, Ann McIntosh Roberts (James) of Austin, Indiana; his brothers, Charles Deaton (Jenni Shawver) of Seymour, Indiana, Paul Deaton (Becky) of Columbus, Indiana, and Jay Roberts (Amber) of Parris Crossing, Tennessee. His legacy continues through his adoring nieces, Hannah (Zack) Pranger, Taylor Deaton, and Haley Roberts, as well as his nephews, Dalton Deaton and Chase Roberts.
He is predeceased by his father, James Deaton, and his brother, James E. Deaton. Together, they will forever remain in the hearts of their family, a reminder of the love that surrounds them even in their absence.
The celebration of Kevin's life will take place with a visitation on January 12, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM. Both events will be held at the Christensen - Hoagland Family Funeral Home, located at 80 N 1st Street, Scottsburg, Indiana.
As we gather to honor Kevin's memory, let us remember the laughter he brought into our lives and the warmth he shared with us all. Though he has departed from this world, his spirit will continue to live on in our hearts and memories.
