Larry Wayne Pike, age 78, born on November 7, 1947, in the quaint town of Shelbyville, Indiana, departed this world on February 6, 2026, at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy woven with love, laughter, and the open roads that echoed his adventurous spirit. Surrounded by his loving family in his final moments, Larry’s life was a tapestry of rich experiences that illustrated his strong will and generous heart.

A proud veteran, Larry served his country in the United States Army during the tumultuous times of the Vietnam War, where he took on the essential role of an Army mechanic. This chapter of his life instilled in him a deep-seated pride and commitment to service that would resonate throughout his years. After his military tenure, Larry harnessed his adventurous spirit further as a truck driver, roaming the vast highways and cherishing each mile driven. His unmistakable love for trucks, particularly Peterbilts, was only rivaled by the joy he felt while maneuvering dump trucks for King’s Excavating post-retirement. The routes he traveled were not merely paths on a map; they were symbolic journeys filled with stories and camaraderie.

Larry was not just a man of the roads; he was a pillar of strength to those who knew him. With a great sense of humor, he filled the lives around him with laughter, often sharing delightful pranks that showcased his playful nature. His caring heart and loving demeanor made him a nurturing presence, particularly to his cherished grandchildren—Jeron, Lauren, Olivia, Lizzie, Joel, Lucas, Molly, and Madalyn—who adored their Grandpa Larry. Extending his legacy further, he was also blessed with six great-grandchildren—Hayden, Cece, Cohen, Saylor, Adalyn, and Brynleigh—each a twinkling star in his expansive family constellation.

Larry is survived by his devoted children, Matthew Pike and his wife Michale of Scottsburg, Indiana, Lori Weaver and her husband Doug of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Kelli Lupresto and her husband Jamie of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Sarah Auffenberg and her husband Michael of Brownstown, Indiana. His bond with his siblings also painted a picture of familial love, as he remained connected to Maurice Pike of Florida, Cecil Pike of Florida, Judy Eberhart and her husband Marvin of Shelbyville, Indiana, Pam Smith and her husband Cliff of Waldron, Indiana, and Kathy Villa and her husband Rudy of Seymour, Indiana.

Though Larry navigated life with a strong will, his absence is felt deeply, especially by those who cherished him most. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Wayne Pike, and his mother, Doris Jean Rairdon Pike, along with his brothers Norman Pike and Randy Pike, and his beloved grandson, Jordan Weaver. Each one of these souls has joined him on the eternal road ahead, but the memories shared here on earth will be cherished forever.

As we bid farewell to a man whose spirit thrived in wide-open spaces and joyous moments, we celebrate the life of Larry Wayne Pike—a dedicated truck driver, a loving family man, and a source of laughter in a world that shall miss him dearly.
