Lisa Ann Moore Smith, age 60, a radiant spirit and personality whose laughter filled the open roads she so dearly loved, passed away on March 21, 2026, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on February 10, 1966, in Seymour, Indiana, Lisa journeyed through life with an exuberance and joy that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
For 21 years, Lisa embraced the life of a truck driver, a career that took her across the vast and varied landscapes of the United States. She was a true traveler at heart, navigating nearly every city and highway with a steady hand and a gleam in her eye. Her adventures were shared most cherished with her husband and steadfast companion of 41 years, Doug Smith of Brownstown, Indiana. Together, they explored sights, created treasured memories, and celebrated the freedom of the open road — a symbol of their enduring partnership and boundless love.
Lisa’s joy was infectious; always smiling, always happy, she earned the affectionate nickname “Giggles” from Doug. Though a private soul, those who loved her knew a heart that loved deeply and without compromise. She found comfort and delight in the simple pleasures: the hum of a story in her ear while driving, the warmth of a freshly baked treat, and the gentle fluttering of hummingbirds. Her love extended beyond family to the animals she cherished—a tender testament to her compassionate nature.
Her culinary talents were unmatched, filling homes and hearts with the irresistible aromas of meals and baked goods made with care and skill. Dogs, cast, and any living creature that crossed her path found a friend in Lisa, whose kindness was as vast as the highways she traveled.
Lisa was deeply devoted to her family. She held close the memories of her late parents, Burrell Ernest Moore and Hazel Miller Moore, whose legacy of love she carried forward. She is survived by her beloved husband Doug; her brothers, Larry Dale Moore and his wife Vickie of Tennessee, and Ernest “Butch” Moore Jr. and his wife Robin of Seymour, Indiana. Their unwavering presence offered strength and solace in her final days, as she passed surrounded by the love and warmth of those who meant the most. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews.
In Brownstown, Indiana, friends and loved ones will gather to honor Lisa’s remarkable life. Visitation will be held on April 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home - Winklepleck Chapel, located at 320 N. High Street. These moments will serve as a poignant farewell to a woman whose spirit soared as high as the hummingbirds she adored and whose legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be laid to rest at Hilltop Cemetery.
Lisa Ann Moore Smith’s journey on earth may have ended, but her laughter, love, and the memories forged on roads far and wide will continue to inspire all who ever shared in her remarkable ride.
