Lucille Stidham Fox, age 91 of Scottsburg, Indiana, a beloved figure whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at Norton Clark Hospital. Born on February 14, 1934, in Toulouse, Kentucky, Lucille radiated love and joy throughout her vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy filled with cherished memories and irreplaceable moments.
A graduate of Leslie County High School, Lucille pursued her passion for caring for others by obtaining a nursing degree from Indiana University Southeast. Her sweet and kind-hearted nature shone through in every facet of her life, reflecting her unwavering faith in Christianity. Lucille was known to greet everyone with a smile, lovingly seeking the best in people and embodying the spirit of compassion.
Lucille’s zest for living extended well beyond her professional accomplishments. An avid golfer, she delighted in the joys of the game, often found under the sun swinging her clubs with grace and enthusiasm. When not on the green, she immersed herself in the simple pleasures of reading, cultivating gardens, and perfecting her culinary talents. The family treasures delightful memories of her homemade banana pudding and comforting chicken and dumplings, along with the heartwarming meals she prepared during holidays—synonyms for love around the family table.
She leaves behind her beloved children: Charles Fox Jr. and his wife Pauline of Austin, Indiana; Charlene Rutherford of Scottsburg, Indiana; Vicki Morrison and her husband Jimmie of Scottsburg, Indiana; JoAnn Waldon and her husband LeRoy of Austin, Indiana. Lucille was blessed with the love of eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, each a testament to her nurturing spirit and the family bond she cherished.
Lucille reunites in glory with those who passed before her, including her parents, Jackson Stidham and Mae Collins Stidham; her husband, Charles Fox Sr.; and her beloved granddaughters Kristy Barger and Melissa Jo McIntosh and her son-in-law Gary Rutherford, alongside her 15 brothers and sisters all of whom contributed to the beautiful tapestry of her life.
The legacy of Lucille Stidham Fox lives on in the hearts of her family and friends who will forever cherish her sweet nature, radiant smile, and unwavering love. In honoring her life, a visitation will be held on September 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at the Christensen - Hoagland Family Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana, ensuring that all whose lives she touched can come together to celebrate her remarkable journey. She will be laid to rest at Scottsburg Cemetery immediately following services.
