Mary A. Miller

November 26, 1944 — April 26, 2025

Scottsburg

Mary Anice McCreery Miller, age 80, a radiant soul cherished by many, was born on November 26, 1944, in Macon, Georgia. She departed from this world on April 26, 2025, at the Indian Creek Healthcare Center in Corydon, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family. A lifetime resident of Scottsburg, Indiana, Mary touched countless lives with her outgoing spirit and unwavering love for her community.

A proud graduate of Scottsburg High School in 1963, Mary dedicated many years to serving her community through her work at Scottsburg Radio, 105.3 WMPI. She retired knowing that her contribution had woven a rich tapestry of connections and memories that will endure far beyond her years. Her passion extended into the charitable realm, where she became affectionately known as “Ms. We Care,” an embodiment of kindness and commitment during the We Care auction that played such an important role in the community she adored.

Mary was both dynamite and gentle spirit in a small package; she embraced life with a vibrant personality and never met a stranger. Generosity flowed from her like the warmest of sunshine, and her strong will was matched only by her profound faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. A lifelong member of New Providence Baptist Church in Austin, Indiana, she surrounded herself with love and worship, creating an everlasting bond with those who knew her.

Her family was her pride and joy. Mary adored her children, Scott Miller and his wife Paulita of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; Brian Miller and his wife Megan of Hanover, Indiana; and her beloved daughter, Rhonda Kay Miller of Scottsburg, Indiana. Her love extended to her grandchildren: Heather Miller and her spouse Jennie, Brandon Miller and his wife Ashley, Megan Morales and her husband Carlos, Alex Cope and his wife Jessie, and Leighanna Cunningham and her husband Kris, all of whom carry forward her legacy of warmth and love. Four great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Daniella, Mateo, and Jack, added to her extensive family circle, each holding a piece of her heart. One sister, Lillian Rutherford of Scottsburg, Indiana.

Mary’s talent in the kitchen was legendary; her homemade rolls, noodles, and from-scratch pies will be cherished memories for her family, reminding them of shared meals and laughter around the table. She instilled in her loved ones the same generosity she so warmly exhibited, creating a ripple effect of kindness that will live on through them.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 45 years, Omer "Jack" Miller; her brother, Ebert McCreery; and her sister, Faye Anderson. A mother and grandmother, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, along with her cherished guardian, Bertha McCreery, who raised her with boundless affection.

Mary Anice McCreery Miller leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and memories that will resonate within the hearts of her family and community eternally.
