Seymour

Matthew Scott Kidd, a gentle soul whose quiet nature and kind heart left a lasting imprint on all who knew him, passed away on March 26, 2026, in his beloved hometown of Seymour, Indiana. Born on January 31, 1980, in Seymour, Matthew lived a life marked by humility, warmth, and quiet strength.

A graduate of Seymour High School in 1993, Matthew chose the path of janitorial work, dedicating himself to his career with a steadfast sense of responsibility and pride. Though reserved, those who took the time to truly know him discovered a man with a subtle wit and a humor that could brighten even the most challenging days. He was soft-hearted and deeply respectful, often putting the needs of others far ahead of his own.

Matthew found simple joys in the things that most mattered to him—immersing himself in video games and supporting his favorite team, the Cleveland Browns. Above all, he cherished time spent with his daughter, Madison Kidd, of Seymour, whose laughter and presence brought immense light to his life.

He is survived by a close-knit circle of loved ones: his devoted mother, Carlla Adrianson (James) Bode, and his daughter, Madison, both of Seymour; his loving sister, Danielle Fights, also of Seymour; and his cherished grandmother, Ida Karnes, who resided in Seymour. Fond memories of Matthew are held by his uncle Chris Barrett of Crothersville and his aunt Sandy Esterline of Seymour. By his side through many moments was Sarah Vogel, his significant other and mother of his child, who shared in his life’s quiet joys.

Matthew’s reserved demeanor never masked the depth of his compassion and loyalty. In his presence, one found an unfailing companion who listened more than he spoke, cared more than he showed, and loved without condition. Though he may have preferred to stay quietly to himself, his enduring spirit profoundly impacted those around him, and his memory will be treasured as a beacon of tenderness and selflessness.

As we bid farewell to Matthew Scott Kidd, we remember a man who lived with heartfelt sincerity, who loved deeply in his own quiet way, and whose legacy of kindness and modesty will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He rests now in peace, forever cherished in the hearts of family, friends, and the community he called home.
