Michael W Hougland, W9KRP, 57, of Scottsburg IN, died Friday, March 4 2011 at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg IN. He was born June 6 1953 in Scottsburg IN, to George W & Juanita Hill Hougland who survives. Mike was a graduate of Scottsburg High School & attended Middle Tennessee State College. He was retired from the Indiana State Department of Transportation as safety over Seymour District. Mike was a member and elder of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church; a charter member of the Scott County Shrine Club; Scottsburg F&AM #572; former Chief of Underwood Volunteer Fire Department; & volunteered for Scottsburg High School Band; held membership with A.R.R.L. & active in ham radio with call sign W9KRP, active in Indiana Traffic Network, active in local repeater network & held a General class license.

He is also survived by a brother Jeff & wife Trudy Hougland of Scottsburg, a sister Lisa Lytle & husband Michael of Lexington, a niece Mikaela Lytle, & 3 nephews Jason Hougland, Derek Hougland & Branden Lytle; and beloved devoted companion “Belle the Wonder Dog”. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ira & Mae Hougland and Robert & Grace Hill. Visitation: Tuesday, March 8 2011, 4pm-8pm at the funeral home. Masonic Services to be held at the funeral home, Tuesday, 7 PM. Funeral Service: 1pm, Wednesday, March 9 2011 at Stewart & Hoagland Funeral Home, with Pastor Rick Lauterbach officiating and burial in Scottsburg Cemetery.
