Michele Lynn (Clarkston) Cardinal Horton, age 51, a vibrant presence in the lives of those who knew her, left this world on April 19, 2025, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Indiana, following a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born on February 8, 1974, in Orlando, Florida, Michele's journey was one marked by love, kindness, and an infectious spirit that knew no bounds.
As a devoted homemaker, Michele cherished the time she spent nurturing her family. Her love for her children was as deep as the seas, and she was the kind of mother who could turn any moment into a treasured memory. Her easy-going, fun-loving nature brought cheer to those around her, and her radiant smile had a magical way of lighting up any room. Fans of laughter and adventure, Michele’s family delighted in the memories carved out of outdoor escapades filled with camping, fishing, and boating trips that underscored her love for the great outdoors and affinity for animals. It is said that her dreams once drifted towards the halls of academia, where she pursued her passion for wildlife veterinary studies — a testament to her gentle regard for all creatures big and small.
Michele's life was one defined not only by her cherished roles but also by her unwavering support for others. She embodied the spirit of generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to anyone in need. With a heart full of empathy, she wove a fabric of connection among family and friends that will be dearly missed.
Michele is survived by her beloved husband, Jonathan Horton of Brownstown, Indiana; her children, Devin Cardinal of Cincinnati, Ohio; Joey Lovitt and his wife Shawna of Butlerville, Indiana; Martin Coy and his wife Destiny of Scipio, Indiana; Dillon Cardinal of North Vernon, Indiana; Christopher O'Dell and his wife Michelle of North Vernon, Indiana; Dalton Cardinal of Brownstown, Indiana; step daughter Kristen Cardinal of Greenwood, Indiana; and Brittany Bland and her husband Roger of Scipio, Indiana; as well as Lillie Horton of Brownstown, Indiana. One step brother, Stan White Jr. and two step sisters, Rosemary Fletcher and Debbie White.
She leaves behind a legacy that will resonate through the hearts of her loved ones, illuminating their lives as she once did with her own laughter and light. Michele was preceded in death by her father, Ronald "Grizzly" Clarkston; her mother, Alfreda Lucas White; and her brother, Michael Clarkston. Their absence will serve as a poignant reminder of the ties that bind them together, transcending the boundaries of time and space.
