Michelle Margarett Spicer, a fierce spirit beloved for her unwavering strength and indomitable will, passed away peacefully at her residence on June 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy etched in love, resilience, and memories. Born on October 5, 1966, in Seymour, Indiana, Michelle's life was a tapestry rich with passion and dedication to her family and community.
A proud 1985 graduate of Crothersville High School, Michelle's love for knowledge led her to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Phoenix University.
Michelle’s personality was as vivid and enduring as the Rock and Roll tunes she cherished—especially from the 1980s. Her spirit was unyielding, yet tender, marked by a hearty love for the outdoors. She found solace and joy in the verdant beauty of the Great Smokey Mountains in Tennessee, often embarking on trips that fueled her love of nature. At home, she delighted in the simple pleasure of sitting on her porch swing, quietly watching the world and engaging with those around her, her feisty and strong-willed nature a magnetic force drawing friends and strangers alike.
Her heart overflowed most profoundly with love for her family, particularly her treasured grandchildren and great-grandchild, who were the brightest lights in her world. Michelle embraced life’s rhythms through music, often seen proudly wearing her signature Rocker tee shirts. Her allegiance to the IU men’s basketball team was a spirited thread woven into her daily joys.
Michelle is survived by her devoted daughters, Erika Wang and her husband Josh of North Vernon, Indiana, and Shalyn Merriman of Crothersville, Indiana; her son Daniel Spicer of Seymour, Indiana; and siblings Jeff Berry and his wife Tammy of Seymour, Indiana, Billy Ray Spicer of Scottsburg, Indiana, Debra Rollins of Medora, Indiana, and Melody “Sis” Terry of Scottsburg, Indiana. She rests in the hearts of seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild who will carry forward her legacy of love and vitality.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jason Spicer; mother, Doris Morgan Spicer; and brother, Michael Spicer, whose memories remain etched alongside hers.
