Micki Ann Taskey Prewitt

Micki Ann Taskey Prewitt, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, at Community Health and Vascular, ending a life marked by compassion, devotion to family, and a quiet strength. Born on October 27, 1950, in Seymour, Indiana, Micki grew up in a loving home shaped by the guidance of her parents, the late Melvin Taskey and Betty Hammerly Taskey.

Micki was a proud graduate of Seymour High School, class of 1968. She carried her passion for lifelong learning beyond high school, attending IVY Tech where she pursued business studies and developed her interest in computers—skills that would become invaluable throughout her life.

She faced both joy and loss with resilience and grace. Micki was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lyman "Tony" Prewitt, who shared her journey through many of life’s milestones; her parents; and her sister, Susan Tannenbaum, whose memory Micki cherished dearly.

Micki’s family was at the heart of all she did. She is survived by her son, Todd D. Prewitt and his girlfriend Stephanie Ulrey, whose accomplishments and happiness were a continual source of pride. Her loving presence is also remembered by her sister, Vickie Burrell, who stood beside her through thick and thin. Micki’s special bond with her nephews, Mike, Shane, and Shawn, and with her niece, Logann, will remain a treasured legacy among those she held dear. 

Micki’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She created a legacy defined not only by achievements and milestones, but by her deep commitment to those she loved and her ability to face life’s challenges with dignity. She enjoyed gardening and tending to animals, especially her dogs. She had a tight knit circle of family and friends that she trusted and loved deeply. If you were in that circle, she always had your back.

As her family and friends mourn her passing, they also celebrate a life well-lived and honor the many ways Micki brightened their lives. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her gentle spirit endures in the memories she leaves behind.

In keeping with her wishes, the family has chosen cremation and no services will be held.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Jackson County Humane Society or the animal shelter of choice.
