Mildred Ann Lawson Sease, age 79, a cherished soul whose life was intricately woven with faith, family, and heartfelt dedication, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Hoosier Health and Living in Brownstown, Indiana. Born on June 18, 1946, in Seymour, Indiana, Mildred’s journey was one marked by warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to the communities she held dear.

Mildred lent her steadfast commitment to Schneck Medical Center, serving in the medical records department for more than 34 years. Her career there was a testament to her meticulous nature and compassionate spirit. In her later years, she continued to enrich the hospital community through her active involvement in the Ladies Auxiliary, a role that reflected her enduring passion for service.

The heartbeat of her existence was her church—The Tabernacle at Sandy Creek—a spiritual home she embraced for more than 55 years. Mildred’s faith was not a mere whisper, but a clarion call witnessed through her dedication as a Sunday school teacher. She imparted lessons of Jesus with a tenderness that endeared her to countless children, shaping their understanding with the gentle wisdom of her words. Her love extended beyond ministry; she was a culinary artist in her own right, known warmly for the wonderful meals she prepared during special church dinners and gatherings, known for her amazing cole slaw.  More than a cook, she was a cornerstone of fellowship, her kindness nourishing both body and soul.

Mildred’s personality sparkled with a unique light—fun-loving and outgoing, she was a people person through and through. Her smile was ever-present, an embodiment of her genuine Christian grace. She was a living example of a Christian lady who carried herself with dignity, yet radiated an approachable warmth that drew others near.

Beyond her faith and work, Mildred found joy in sewing, meticulously crafting clothes for her daughter during childhood, including the wedding dress and bridesmaids' dresses for her daughter’s wedding. Quilting was another cherished pastime, a creative outlet where she infused love into every stitch. Her passion for Longaberger Baskets was legendary; she delightfully embarked on multiple journeys to the headquarters and factory to witness the intricate craftsmanship first-hand—a symbol of her appreciation for artistry and tradition. Always a devoted partner, she stood steadfast beside her husband, a Master Blacksmith, traveling with him to shows and conventions, sharing in his world with pride and encouragement.

Mildred’s family, the foundation of her life's joy, survives her and continues her legacy of faith and love. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Raymond E. Sease, and his wife Sharon of Scipio, Indiana; her daughter, Melissa Dyess, alongside her husband Charles of Uniontown, Indiana; her brother Tom Lawson and his wife Sharlene of Reddington, Indiana, brother Marvin Lawson and his wife Nancy of Columbus, Indiana and her sister Karen Beavers with her husband Roger, also from Reddington, Indiana. The light of her life shone brightly in her four grandchildren—Sara Dyess, Olivia Hicks, Phillip Dyess, and Kendra Fields—and extended beautifully into the new generation with one great-grandson, Nolan Hicks.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, John Lawson and Bernice Swengel Lawson; her beloved husband of 59 years, Raymond L. Sease Sr.;, her brother Joe Lawson.
