Patty Jean Von Fange Browning

August 11, 1951 — August 29, 2025

Seymour

Patty Jean VonFange Browning, age 74, a lifelong resident of Seymour, Indiana and a cherished soul whose gentle spirit and profound love shaped the lives of all who knew her, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Community Hospital South, Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on August 11, 1951, Patty was a beacon of warmth and compassion, illuminating the paths of her family and friends with her nurturing presence.

She was a graduate of Seymour High School in 1969, and a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, where her kindness and caring nature resonated with the community. Those close to her often marveled at her extraordinary ability to connect with everyone she met—Patty never met a stranger, effortlessly finding common ground with all. Her home was a sanctuary of love, where laughter thrived and every embrace felt like coming home.

For Patty, family was everything. The essence of her being was woven into the lives of her loved ones; she was a devoted wife to Larry Browning, whom she shared 56 beautiful years of marriage with. Together, they built a life rich in love, unwavering support, and countless memories that will forever echo in their hearts. As a mother, Patty poured her heart into her children—Joe Browning and his wife Shana, Stacey Polley and her husband Brian, and Misty Wetzel and her husband Randy—fostering a bond that blossomed through her nurturing spirit. Her role as a grandmother brought her immeasurable joy, as she delighted in the lives of her five grandsons: Dillon Polley, Dalton Polley and his wife Jenna, C.J. Polley, Coltin Wetzel, and Harrison Wetzel, each cherished beyond words.

Patty had a knack for making everyone feel special. Her warm hugs and cheerful conversations were a gentle reminder of her deep affection and sincere interest in the lives of those she loved. She found incredible joy in simple pleasures—her days often spent immersed in the beauty of her gardens, cultivating flowers and vegetables with a tender touch. When she wasn’t nurturing her plants, you could find her with a book in hand or engaged in her love for crochet, often creating treasures infused with her generous spirit.

Patty’s memory lives on through her loving husband, children, grandchildren, and her beloved sisters, Norma Voss and her husband Jack, Cheryl Kieser, and Carol Kieser, who will carry forward her legacy of love and harmony. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward VonFange and Berneice Stockhoff VonFange, and her brother Alvin VonFange, as well as her brother-in-law Dave Kieser.
