Penny Charlene (Reed) Johnson

Penny Charlene (Reed) Johnson, age 74, born on June 10, 1952 to Gloria (Reed) Smith, passed away on July 29, 2026 at IU Methodist Hospital. She was a graduate of Southwest High School in Hanover, Indiana and a member of Country Baptist Church, 

Penny loved animals, especially her dogs Roscoe and Smokey.  She also loved cats, there were like family to her. She was loving and cared very much for her job and training others at her job. She loved her family dearly.

She is survived by her son Tony Box of Brownstown, Indiana and one step son, John Johnson Jr. of Long Beach, California. One step daughter, Ashley Newsome of Indianapolis, Indiana. One brother, Gene Smith of Freetown, Indiana. One grandchild, Deleney Newsome. 

She was preceded in death by her mother and her husband John Johnson Sr.

In keeping with her wishes, all services were held privately.

Daniel and Betsy Christensen have been entrusted with the arrangements.
