Phillip Morris, a skilled carpenter whose laughter echoed like a melody through the lives he touched, departed this world on June 21, 2025, at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. He was born on March 23, 1963, in Scott County, Indiana, where he began his journey—a journey marked by joy, humor, and an unfiltered essence that was uniquely his own.
Phillip's hands were often stained with sawdust, shaped by his tireless work as a carpenter. He found great satisfaction in constructing not just physical structures, but in building memories with those he cherished. His love for the outdoors was unparalleled; whether he was fishing, camping, or toiling in his yard, the sun-kissed air seemed to dance in harmony with his spirit. He embraced life with the simplicity of a good cup of coffee and an array of favorite hats—each a beloved companion of his everyday adventures.
His heart was deeply rooted in faith, affirming that his foundation was built not only on the lumber he shaped but also on the love shared with family and friends. Phillip was a fun-loving jokester and an outgoing man whose boundless energy illuminated the lives of all who crossed his path. What you saw was unequivocally what you got, and his cheerful outlook was infectious—a gift that he generously offered to everyone he encountered.
Phillip leaves behind a loving family that will carry forth his legacy of laughter and strength. His beloved wife Angie Stout Morris of Seymour, Indiana, his son, Trey Thompson, and daughter-in-law Elizabeth reside in Salem, Indiana. Two daughters, Brenda Stewart, and son-in-law Adrian of North Vernon, Indiana and Chanda Greathouse and her husband Jeffrey of Crothersville, Indiana and a sister, Joyce Massingill of Seymour, Indiana, remains devoted to cherishing the memories they made together. His legacy stretches across generations, with eight grandchildren—Isaiah, Chloe, Jaylen, Treyton, Kynlee, AudreeAnne, McKenna, and Shiloh—and two great-grandchildren, Ryder and Millie, each a budding flower in the abundant garden of his life.
Though Phillip is predeceased by his father, Harlan Morris, his mother, Clara Morris, and dear figures Bob and Mary Wheeler, who raised him as their own son, he now joins his brother, Alan Vincent, in eternal rest. In their absence, Phillip's spirit will continue to resonate through the love of those he leaves behind, a testament to the moments they cherished together—the cookouts filled with laughter, the stories shared under starlit skies, and the love that knew no bounds.
As the world feels the void left by his departure, Phillip's legacy of joy, kindness, and unyielding spirit will always remain alive in the hearts of his beloved family and friends. In celebrating his life, may we all embrace each day with the same vibrancy and warmth that he so passionately embodied.
In keeping with his wishes, the family has chosen cremation.
