Phyllis Ann Warren Carey, a beacon of warmth and personality, passed away on September 24, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 2, 1954, in Joiner, Arkansas, Phyllis lived a life rich with love, laughter, and a boundless spirit that brightened the days of all who knew her.
An excellent homemaker at heart, Phyllis poured herself unwaveringly into her family, with home and family being her world. She embraced the joys of cleaning and organizing, transforming her space into a sanctuary for those she cherished. Whether it was the sound of laughter echoing during family dinners or the joyful chaos of holiday gatherings, her home was always a place of love and refuge.
Phyllis was known for her spunky personality, brimming with life and vivacity. An eternal social butterfly, she never met a stranger and believed firmly in the power of connection. Her infectious laughter would often fill the air, and she had a way of capturing the attention of every room she entered. "I have the floor," she would announce proudly, and indeed, every word she spoke resonated with her listeners, for she always had something delightful to say.
Her interests were as diverse as her personality. A lover of animals—especially dogs, cats, and horses—Phyllis found joy in their company. Inspirational music lifted her spirit, and vacations offered her a cherished escape. Her passion extended to going out with friends and attending church, where her vibrant presence felt like a warm embrace.
Phyllis is lovingly remembered by her family, including her sons Eddie Warren and his wife Leslie of Palmyra, Indiana; Robert Bolden of Lexington, Indiana; and John Warren Sr. of Evansville, Indiana. Her daughters, April Lanham of Lexington, Indiana, and Teresa Aloisio of Scottsburg, Indiana, carry her legacy forward, as do her brother Terry Warren of Illinois and sisters Brenda Warren of Salem, Indiana, and Becky Bagwell of Illinois. A remarkable matriarch, she leaves behind seventeen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, each bearing the imprint of her affection.
She is preceded in death by her cherished husband, Kenneth T. Carey, her parents Clyde F. Warren and Nellie Highland Warren, her sister Debbie Dodd, and her daughter-in-law Tonya Bolden, as well as her son-in-law Marc Aloisio.
Phyllis's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her radiance. The world is a little dimmer without her, but her legacy of love, laughter, and connection will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
