Rev. Tim Joiner

November 17, 1965 — November 23, 2025

Louisiana

Mark Timothy “Tim” Joiner, a native of Louisiana, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025 surrounded by his family and close friends. Born in Montgomery, LA, on November 17, 1965, Tim was the youngest of five children born to Rev. Bobby Joiner and Joyce (Shaver) Joiner. He grew up with a love for God and for the church, and he instilled that same love in his own children. Tim was well-known for his effortless sense of humor, even while preaching, and his penchant for pranks and antics throughout his many travels, but he was a family man through and through. He truly had no greater joy than being home, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

In 2001 at the age of 35, Tim answered the call he felt God placed on his heart to become a missionary to the country of Belize, Central America. In addition to raising his own family, Tim opened the doors of his home and his heart to many other children and families in need while on the mission field. He gave the best years of his life, including his energy and his health, while sacrificing to invest in the people of the third world country for which God gave him a deep love. While in Belize, he founded the headquarters in Guinea Grass and established many daughter-works in the villages of San Felipe, San Jose, Orange Walk, Punta Gorda, and many more areas throughout the remote country. Simultaneously, he also oversaw the mission works in the Philippines and Honduras. Falling in love with every life he touched, he gave one hundred percent of himself in every location, pouring not only his finances and his physical strength into the needs of the people there, but most importantly, his heart and his God-given passion. His love for missions, both at home and abroad, remained long after he returned to the U.S. nearly 20 years later. He spent the final years of his life working with the homeless and with men and women in halfway houses, once again pouring his heart and his God-given passion into people who would likely never be able to return the favor. He truly answered and fulfilled what God had always called him to do.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James “Rusty” Joiner. He is survived by his remaining siblings: Tonya, Buddy and Sonya Joiner and his many nephews and nieces, including his favorite, Laycee Hattaway. Also left behind to cherish his matchless memory are his wife, Lauren (Pinell) Joiner, and his children: Rev. Mark Joiner II (Lorraine), Haley (Joiner) Hernandez (Jose), Darlina Joiner, and Luke Touchet. He is also survived by the apples of his eye—his grandchildren: sisters MarKaly and Lillian Joiner, and sisters Josey and Haverly Hernandez.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Buddy Joiner, Mark Joiner, Jose Hernandez, Luke Touchet, Christofer Hattaway, Tyler Lewis, Paul Stoute, and Nathan Lopez.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Braxton King, Bryson King, and Alexander Hardin.
