Robin Doy Wheeler

Feb 27, 1961 — Aug 16, 2026

Robin Doy Wheeler, age 65, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 27, 1961, in Seymour, Indiana, to the late Jerry Lee and Delores A. (Jones) Wheeler.

Robin was a proud 1979 graduate of Seymour High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree in Engineering from DeVry University. He devoted more than 30 years of his professional life to Northrop Grumman Corporation in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, where his dedication, intelligence, and quiet determination earned him the respect and admiration of those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

On December 28, 1981, Robin married the love of his life, Cathy Jane Waggoner. Together, they shared 45 years of marriage and were blessed with three sons: Rex, Ryan, and Christopher. His family was the center of his world, and Robin took great pride in being a devoted husband and father. He was a steady presence in their lives and worked tirelessly to provide for and care for those he loved.

Quiet and humble by nature, Robin possessed a gentle heart and treated others with compassion, kindness, and respect. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a lifelong member of The Point. There, he found great joy in serving through music, playing bass guitar with the worship band. His faith provided him with strength, comfort, and purpose throughout his life.

Robin found happiness in the simple things. He had a natural gift for tinkering and repairing electronics and enjoyed working on radios, clocks, model cars, and trains. He could spend hours patiently figuring out how things worked and bringing them back to life. He especially treasured quiet moments spent reading his Bible.

A devoted sports fan, Robin faithfully followed the Indianapolis Colts and the L.A. Rams and enjoyed watching Indiana University and Purdue University basketball. He also had a wonderful appreciation for humor and could often be found laughing along with comedic television shows, especially classic episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. His beloved dog, Domino, held a special place in his heart and was a faithful companion throughout the years.

Robin will be remembered not for seeking attention, but for the quiet and lasting impact he made on the people he loved. He was a provider, a husband, a father, a brother, and a friend whose love was often expressed through his actions rather than his words. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the faith he held dear, and the countless memories that will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Robin’s life will be cherished by his wife of 45 years, Cathy Jane Wheeler of Seymour; his sons, Ryan Wheeler of Arlington, Virginia, and Christopher Wheeler (Stephen) of Belvidere, Illinois; his sister, Jerri Wheeler-Burbrink of Columbus, Indiana; his brothers, Royd Wheeler (Lisa) of Seymour and Roger Wheeler (Karol) of Seymour; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Lee and Delores A. Wheeler; his son, Rex A. Wheeler; and his brother, Rex D. Wheeler.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at The Point, 311 Myers Street, Seymour, Indiana. Services will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the same location, with Pastor Jon Gibson officiating.

Robin will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation or The Point’s This Is Now Fund, in honor of Robin’s life and the causes that were meaningful to him.

Though his presence is gone from this world, Robin’s love, laughter, faith, and quiet strength will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
