Ronald Chase

October 20, 1938 — June 30, 2025

Ronald Gerald Chase, born on October 20, 1938, in the serene embrace of Lawrence County, Indiana, departed from this world on June 30, 2025, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ronald’s journey was a remarkable tapestry woven with kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.

A proud graduate of Tunnelton High School, class of 1956, Ronald exemplified the spirit of determination and perseverance. His commitment to service led him to the United States Army, where he served his country with dignity from 1961 to 1963. This foundational experience shaped his character, instilling in him a sense of humility and a steadfast resolve that would permeate every aspect of his life.

For an impressive 33 years, Ronald found his professional home at Cummins, where he devoted himself to his work with the same passion and diligence he applied to all endeavors. Yet, it was not just in his professional life where Ronald shined; he was a true craftsman at heart. A lover of woodworking, he could fix just about anything that needed repair, showing a remarkable talent for tinkering that drew admiration from friends and family alike.

In the realm of leisure, Ronald wore many hats: a staunch supporter of Indiana University basketball, an avid NASCAR fan, and a dedicated gardener, he embraced life’s simple pleasures. His laughter echoed through gatherings, his witty remarks and wonderful sense of humor wrapping loved ones in warmth and comfort. A man of steady patience and kindness, Ronald approached life with a positive outlook that inspired those around him.

Ronald was not just known for his talents and interests, but also for the deep connections he fostered with those he loved. He shared a profound bond with his beloved wife, Nancy Chastain Chase, with whom he spent 65 remarkable years. Together, they built a rich life in Seymour, Indiana, nurturing a family filled with love and support.

He is survived by son Les Chase and his wife Jennie; a daughter Gayna Reynolds and her husband Randal, of Vallonia, Indiana. Ronald’s legacy continues through his four cherished grandchildren, Eric Chase, Kayla Hildreth, Macey Northern, and Ashton Chase, alongside three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Bonnie Case of Louisville, Kentucky. Their lives, forever touched by his unwavering love and guidance, will carry forward his spirit.

Though he is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Flavia Bright Chase, and his sister Ruth Roberts, those who knew Ronald will forever remember his gentle heart, his integrity, and the laughter he brought into their lives.
